What is FCA?

Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high, and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ.  FCA is the largest Christian sports organization in America.

When and how often does Veritas FCA meet?

Once a month – usually on the last Thursday of the month from 7am – 8am.

Who leads an FCA Huddle Meeting?

The Huddle is student-led with coaches or interested volunteer facilitating the student meetings. Adults working with Huddles take care not to dominate the leadership but encourage the student leaders to take charge of the Huddle meeting schedule. The coach is there to provide counsel and to maintain order.

What does an FCA Huddle Meeting look like at Veritas?

· Fellowship – We ALL wake up to loud music & fresh donuts!

· Game – One athlete is in charge of a game to get us charged up and focused!

· Worship  – One athlete is in charge of worship as we praise and worship together at every meeting..

· Devotion/Prayer – Assigned athletes lead in the devotion series -They also opened and closed the meetings with prayer. We sometimes invite guest speakers from previous coaches to alumni.

FOR THE GLORY - ITS ALL ABOUT GOD!!!

His Glory -- It’s not about ME!            His Goal -- It’s about SERVING!

His Grip -- It’s about LOVE!                                His Ground -- It’s about POWER!

How has FCA impacted Veritas?

Since we started an FCA Huddle on the Veritas campus, an average of 30-45 middle school student-athletes have attended each meeting. As a coach, I am very PROUD to help facilitate these students in continuing to grow and understand God’s plan for them. The student-leaders present the meetings in a secure manner that relates to their peers. This usually leads to much discussion about and reflection upon the topics of the meeting. Seeing the excitement in some of their eyes when they understand that God is in every part of their lives, even athletics, sends chills down my spine. Working with FCA is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job here at Veritas! -Coach Jones
