In pursuit of its mission, the Veritas community is guided by five core values. Our core values represent the philosophical commitments of our community for our students’ development. After all, one reason we teach our children to read or learn their math facts or observe nature is to train them to recognize and emulate the perfect example of truth, goodness, and beauty.
At Veritas, every subject is taught through the lens of Christ, and biblical literacy is the foundation that makes this possible. Knowledge of our history and heritage as Christians is a key pillar of study; by learning the story of salvation and tracing God’s hand throughout history, students come to understand the world and their place in it rightly. Through Scripture memorization, we equip our students with truth that will remain with them for a lifetime.
As an ecumenical community, Veritas does not teach denominationally-specific doctrine. We view this as sacred ground belonging to the family and the family’s church.
Our curriculum is rooted in the three cultures that gave rise to Western civilization: Athens, Rome, and Jerusalem. Studying Latin sharpens the mind; training students in structure, logic, and clear expression, while reading the classics builds character, connecting students to a shared conversation about truth, goodness, and beauty that spans generations. This classical foundation doesn’t just inform students; it forms them, uniting the philosophical and civic wisdom of Athens and Rome with the faith of Jerusalem to prepare hearts and minds to think deeply and live well.
Knowledge without virtue is dangerous. At Veritas, we take that seriously: we educate the whole child, valuing moral formation as highly as academic achievement. Guided by the cardinal virtues: prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance; and the theological virtues of faith, hope, and love, we form students academically, socially, and emotionally, so they grow in wisdom and in goodness alike.
Veritas embraces a history of excellence in academic achievement. We are committed to challenging our students to reach their highest academic potential and to stretch their intellectual boundaries, seeking to model and impart the virtues of inquiry, preparation, and discipline in the pursuit of knowledge and understanding.
Veritas values providing a variety of engagement opportunities, both curricular and co-curricular, to support each student’s development. The classroom, the playing field, travel exposure, fine arts integration, and community service are all part of learning for Veritas students.
