Our youngest Rams are just beginning their journey, and our PreK3 program meets them right where they are. Parents are invited to choose from a variety of school day arrangements: 2-day, 3-day, or 5-days a week, full or half days.
While light academic work is woven throughout the day, our primary focus is helping children build independence and age-appropriate social and emotional strength. At this age, children learn best through play and hands-on experience, so our PreK3 days are filled with time outdoors, immersion in lovely children’s literature, arts and crafts, and exploration of our nearly five-acre campus. Preschool offers a gentle introduction to learning through books on numbers, colors, and shapes, laying a wonderful foundation for our Junior Kindergarten program and the classical Christian education to come.
Junior Kindergarten marks an exciting step for our 4 and 5-year-old Rams. While our program continues to prioritize developmentally appropriate growth in the social and emotional realms, students also begin to learn the “business” of doing school, such as standing in line, using an inside voice, sharing, waiting their turn, and building both fine and gross motor skills. At this age, children are still learning best through purposeful play, and nature remains their best science teacher, so time outdoors and hands-on exploration continue to be central to our days.
Using a carefully constructed, gentle curriculum, our days include prayer, recitation, alphabet and number lessons, show-and-tell, activities and crafts, and engaging read-aloud literature. Students are also introduced to beloved Bible stories, growing in faith alongside their early academic skills. Junior Kindergarten is offered as half-day or full-day, five days a week, giving families flexibility as they prepare their child for a beautiful classical Christian education at Veritas.
“Veritas was the right setting for our daughters to develop their potential. They thrived learning not only classical disciplines, but fine arts and sports, all within a culture consistent with a biblical worldview. This foundation enabled admittance to the colleges of their choice, including Berkeley and the University of Texas engineering and honors programs. We continue to support Veritas because of the unique opportunity it provides Christian families for their child’s formative years.”
