Veritas Christian Academy offers tuition assistance based on financial need to current and incoming families. The Veritas Financial Aid Program has a two-fold purpose: to provide deserving students with an opportunity for an education they might otherwise not be able to have and to provide Veritas with a well-qualified student body reflecting social and economic diversity. Veritas demonstrates its commitment to need-based financial aid by providing a portion of the school’s budget to fund the financial needs of its students. Veritas is committed to providing financial aid to as many students as possible; however, families bear the primary responsibility for financing education to the extent that they are able. To be eligible for financial aid at Veritas, a family must demonstrate financial need. FAST (Financial Aid for School Tuition) will conduct the financial need analysis. 1. How is Financial Aid awarded?

The analysis provided by FAST is reviewed by the Veritas Financial Aid Committee and serves as a guideline in making prayerful Financial Aid decisions.

2. What are Financial Aid awards?

Financial Aid awards are grants funded by a tithe of Veritas Christian Academy’s annual operating budget and do not require repayment.

3. Does applying for Financial Aid influence my child’s admission decision?

No. Financial Aid awards are made after the student is admitted and enrolled. Veritas accepts students based on academic merit, test scores, references, and personal qualities.

4. Who may apply for Financial Aid?

Any applicants to Veritas Christian Academy may apply.

5. Is Financial Aid automatically renewed each year?

Families must apply for Financial Aid each year.

6. Do parents submit an application for each student or for the family?

Families are to submit only one application for the family.

7. What is the deadline for applying for Financial Aid?

The Financial Aid application is available beginning February 1st. The first group of financial aid awards will be made from applications received and fully processed by FAST by March 1. Families will be notified in March. Applications received after April 1 will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.

8. Will a change in financial circumstances during the school year change the Financial Aid award?

If your circumstances change, please contact the Director of Finance. The financial aid committee will review the new information and determine whether to submit the new information to FAST. Additional financial aid granted will be based on your need and our remaining resources.

9. What happens if the parents are divorced or separated?

Please see the FAST financial aid application for specific instructions.

10. Does Financial Aid cover expenses other than tuition?

Financial Aid covers tuition only.

11. Does the student’s academic performance in school affect Financial Aid?

To qualify for financial aid, students must maintain a 70 (D) grade average in all subjects and an S (Satisfactory) conduct grade on each report card. Financial assistance will be removed following a report card on which these levels are not maintained. Financial aid will be restored following a grading period in which these levels are reestablished.

12. When will I be notified of my Financial Aid award?

Determinations will be made in March for applications submitted to FAST by March 1st. Thereafter, determinations will be made as information is received.

13. How do I apply for Financial Aid?

Applicants may apply online by clicking on the FAST link above. Detail information about the process of applying for financial aid and a list of the financial records that will be required for completion of the form is included in the FAST Parent User Guide.

14. Does the school participate in the TEFA program?

Yes, Veritas Christian Academy participates in the TEFA award program. However, the school may choose to leave the program if it no longer aligns with the mission of the school. The partnership will be reevaluated on an annual basis. Families would be provided adequate notice of that decision.

15. Am I required to apply to the TEFA program?

We encourage all families to apply as it is a wonderful benefit now provided by the state and a financial resource for eligible families. Part of our financial aid application asks all applicants to apply for TEFA if that application window is still open. If you miss the application window it does not disqualify you from the Veritas Financial Aid program.

16. Does a TEFA award impact my financial aid award?

TEFA funds will not automatically disqualify a student from receiving financial aid from Veritas. However, if a family is awarded TEFA funds, the TEFA award may affect the financial aid allocated by Veritas as the combination of TEFA and financial aid cannot exceed the full amount of tuition. If you are not awarded TEFA funds, that also does not disqualify you from the Veritas Christian Academy Financial Aid program.

17. How are TEFA funds applied to our tuition?

Once TEFA funds are received from the 3rd party administrator, the funds would be applied to the student’s tuition balance. If Financial Aid has been awarded, adjustments will be made if the combination of Financial Aid and TEFA exceeds the full tuition balance.
