Athletics at Veritas

The Athletic Department of Veritas Christian Academy uses competition and physical training to teach student-athletes the disciplines needed to build Christian character and to honor God through their efforts on and off the field of play. Veritas is committed to instilling excellence in education, teamwork, and leadership in our athletes. Our middle school athletes compete against area schools in the West Houston Christian Athletic Conference (WCHAC).

West Houston Christian Athletic Conference (WHCAC)

West Houston Christian Athletic Conference (WHCAC) was founded in 1992 by six Christian schools with a desire to provide junior high students an opportunity to play sports in a competitive setting in the west Houston geographical area. The main goal of this league is for the athletes to show the character and attitude of Christ while competing in athletic events.

WHCAC basic philosophy consists of the following beliefs:

  • WHCAC believes that God enjoys watching His children have fun.
  • WHCAC believes that all member Coaches are men and women of God first, and our athletes should see us as examples of honesty, integrity, and good sportsmanship.
  • WHCAC believes that as athletes, our students should understand that the same determination, commitment, sweat, playing with pain, and “give it all you’ve got” attitude that it takes to be a good student and a good athlete, are the same ingredients used to make a successful Christian.
  • WHCAC believes that all schools participating in this conference should do everything possible to ensure the conference’s excellent reputation within their community, as well as among their own student body and parents.

All sports are played under the National Federation of State High School Associations guidelines unless exceptions are made in the sports plan. All WHCAC sports activities will be governed by the conference and a specific sports plan.

Greater Houston Athletic Conference (GHAC)

The purpose of the Greater Houston Athletic Conference (GHAC) is to promote, develop, direct, protect, and regulate amateur interscholastic athletic relationships between private and parochial middle school members and to stimulate fair play, friendly rivalry, and good sportsmanship among schools.
